Deciphering the Importance of ‘Location, Location, Location’
When asked what the most critical factor when purchasing real estate is, people often reply with this age-old saying: “Location, location, location.” It emphasizes the significance of choosing an optimal spot in which to buy property; such an investment typically results in greater property values, appreciation rates and quality-of-life benefits than its counterpart.
Who Said It First? While researching this article, my goal was to discover an intriguing backstory on where this popular buying advice first originated; however, to my disbelief no definitive source could be identified as to when and why its origin.
Some journalists have incorrectly reported that Lord Harold Samuel, a British real estate mogul, first coined this phrase. This claim has since been disproven by The New York Times when they discovered it first appearing in a classified ad published by Chicago’s Tribune newspaper in 1926.
No matter its origins, property valuation remains one of the key aspects when purchasing property.
